The Paleolithic Diet

With many fad diets out there, it's difficult to discern the differences between each and know which one might be effective for you.  The Paleo Diet, or Paleolithic Diet, can be VERY effective but can also be very difficult to maintain.  The idea behind it is that you return to the diet of your ancestors who lived during the paleolithic era.

Things you CAN eat:

  • Animal meat
  • Fish
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables

Things you CAN'T eat:

  • Processed/refined foods
  • Dairy products
  • Sugar
  • Grains

People with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes could benefit greatly from truly and strictly following the Paleo Diet.  But for many who are looking for assistance with weight-loss, the Paleo Diet can offer a jumping-off point.  It's smart to cut out excessive dairy, grains, and sugar.  Processed foods are shown to be extremely unhealthy and addictive, so striking those from your diet is great too.  And luckily for those who do not have serious dietary allergies or restrictions, a "slip" or even the choice to incorporate some of those items back into your diet occasionally isn't a no-no.

The lists above are by no means exhaustive, but click here for a more extensive list of "dos" and "don'ts."  Share with me on Facebook at if you've tried this diet and whether or not you liked/maintained it.  I think I love ice cream too much, but I sure could incorporate more vegetables into my diet too!
