For four decades, Ballet Wichita has been bringing the timeless performance of Tchaikovsky’s “The NUTCRACKER,” to Wichita. The company performs two public performances every year at Century II. This year’s performances are scheduled for Sat, Dec. 14 and Sun, Dec. 15.

This season marks Ballet Wichita’s 40th anniversary of wowing crowds in Wichita, making it one of the city’s most treasured cultural events. Ballet Wichita casts more than 100 dancers to perform the choreography, which is fashioned closely to that of the original Nutcracker Ballet, created over 100 years ago.

The ballet has added 16 new soldier costumes to its performance, providing something new to see for audience members. The show will include traditional Nutcracker songs, such as “Sugar Plum Dance” and “Nutcracker March,” performed by a full orchestra, including members from the Ballet Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
