It wasn’t awful. It wasn’t great. And that is pretty much all you can say about Clint Bowyer’s run this past weekend at Bristol. The number 15 car finished 15th at the bullring, which considering he went a lap down at one point isn’t bad.
This week the NASCAR Sprint Cup series is off to California a track that has been pretty good to Bowyer, even though he doesn’t have a win at the Auto Club Speedway. Bowyer does have two top fives and seven top tens in 13 starts and has completed 99.4% of the laps in those races.
He’s obviously a fan.
“High, wide and handsome!” Bowyer said of Auto Club. “To be fast there you have to be able to roll into the corner and drive through the corner on the throttle right up against the wall.”
Bowyer could use a good run. He is still back in 24th place in the standings. More important than that, under the new format wins are everything. And Bowyers winless streak continues to grow, quickly approaching a season and a half.
