It’s time to rev up the engines and get ready to race. After a roller coaster 2013 few drivers are more excited about the possibilities this season than Kansas native Clint Bowyer.
"I didn't finish the way I wanted to. We had a great season in 2012 and I didn't perform to the level that I feel like I'm capable of, and more importantly our team is capable of,” said Bowyer. “So really looking forward to getting that started over.”
Change might be the theme for Bowyer and his team for 2014. Not with in the 15 team itself, the team is pretty much intact from last season. But there were big changes to Michael Waltrip Racing, the biggest of which is the consolidation from three teams to two.
Oh and then there’s that “little” change to the ‘Chase for the Championship’ format and group qualifying beginning at Phoenix.
“A lot of things are going to be new,” said Bowyer. “A lot of new challenges and anytime that we have new within our sport I think it opens up an opportunity to beat others. Everybody is just thrashing in every way to prepare themselves for the season. Our work is done -- we're ready to go.”
Bowyer’s first chance to go will be in Thursday’s Budweiser Duels at Daytona. CB will start 10th in the second duel after only being 20th quickest in last Sunday’s qualifying.
“That was about what we expected and we’re right there with our Toyota teammates,” said Bowyer. “We’ll be good in the Duels -- feel like we’ve got a solid 5-hour ENERGY Camry in the draft. We’ll be fine.”
