WICHITA, Kan. -

7-foot junior college center Tom Bush Wamukota gave his oral commitment to play basketball at Wichita State, Wednesday.

Eyewitness Sports confirmed the commitment through the program, earlier today.

"Wichita State was on the top of my list as I was taking my official visits," Wamukota said from Texas Wednesday evening. "I liked them from the beginning, so they were always number one on my list."

Wamukota plays for Kilgore College in Texas, and is the second player from the Lone Star State to pledge to WSU in the upcoming 2014 class.

"I think I fit their style of play and it was a place that was already in my mind," he said. "I also (saw) them play last year, and I was really impressed by their performance."

Head coach Gregg Marshall graduates two post players after this season, so Wamukota’s size will be a welcomed addition.

"He will be able to bring a post presence, offensively," Kilgore College head coach Brian Hoberecht said. "He will be able to get some baskets, finish some plays and he is a really good passer. It allows him to creates problems as people help, and double down if they choose to. Then he will be able to create offense with his ability to pass."

A native of Kenya, Wamukota will have two years of eligibility left when he arrives in Wichita.

"You can see the development in (Ehime) Orupke from last year and now he is playing overseas," Wamukota said. "(WSU) also has a good history with international players; they know what overseas players need."
