HAYS, Kansas -

The Fort Hays State men are in, the women are out.

It was a long two days of waiting, after bowing out in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament in the quarterfinals, The Tiger men's basketball team learned its fate late Sunday night.

At 22-7, the Fort Hays men entered the week as the number six ranked team in the Central Region. But after the loss, they had to wait and hope their 22-7 record, coupled with no upsets taking away at large bids, was enough. Both happened.

The Tigers are seeded six in the region and will face third seeded Missouri Southern in the opening round of the tournament. Fort Hays won the only meeting between the two 76-67 on January 4th in Joplin. Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri State also made the field out of the MIAA. The Mules are seed second, the Bearcats fifth.

The Central Regional will be held at Minnesota-Mankato. FHSU and Mo Southern tip at 12pm on Saturday

The Lady Tigers bubble was burst as they were left out of the women’s tournament. The Lady Tigers finish the season at 21-8, marking the first time in school history the Fort Hays women have posted three straight 20 win seasons. But it was not enough to get them in the field.

MIAA tournament champion Emporia State is the number one seed in the Central Region, with Central Missouri (3 seed) and Pittsburg State (5 seed) getting at-large bids.
