Illinois State took over sole possession of first place with a 3-1 win over Wichita State. The Redbirds won by scores of 25-14, 13-25, 25-18 and 25-18.
Ashlyn Driskill led the Shockers with 12 kills, while Chelsey Feekin had 32 assists and 15 digs.
The Redbirds raced out to a 7-2 lead in the first set, but the Shockers pulled to within 9-7 after a kill from Sam Sanders. ILS answered with a 7-0 run to go in front 16-7 and cruised to the 25-14 win.
The Shockers used an 8-0 run to take a 9-2 lead in the second set. Another 8-0 run put the Shocks in front 17-3 and three-straight Shocker points increased the lead to 23-6. ILS answered with a 7-0 run to pull within 23-13, but a kills from Elizabeth Field and Ashley Andrade gave the Shocks a 25-13 win.
ILS took an early 8-3 lead in the third set and the teams traded points until a block by Andrade and Reilly pulled the Shocks to within 14-11. ILS answered with a 4-0 run to go in front 18-11 and won the set 25-18.
The Redbirds never trailed in the fourth set as they raced out to a 12-6 lead. WSU used three-straight kills to cut the lead to 13-10, but that was as close as the Shockers would get as ILS won the set 25-18.
