Shockers win in extras at Eck Stadium

WICHITA, Kan. -

Tanner Dearman hit a RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead the Wichita State baseball team to a 4-3 victory over Bradley on Friday night inside Eck Stadium.

Tyler Baker went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Casey Gillaspie went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.

The Shockers got on the board early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. Tyler Baker grabbed both RBI when he singled to center field to plate Chase Simpson and Casey Gillaspie to put Wichita State up, 2-0.

Bradley answered with one run in the top of the second to cut the Shocker lead to 2-1.

Neither team scored till the top of the sixth when the Braves tied the score at two on a throwing error by Wichita State.

After a walk and two hit batters in the bottom of the eighth, Zair Koeiman hit a sacrifice fly to deep left field to score Simpson and put the Shockers ahead 3-2.

The Braves used a sacrifice fly of their own in the top of the ninth to tie the game at three, and after Wichita State was unable to score in the bottom of the inning, the game went into extra innings.

Tyler Baker led off the bottom of the 10th with a double down the right field line, and four batters later, Tanner Dearman singled to right field to plate Baker and give the Shockers the victory, 4-3.

Wichita State will take on Bradley in game two of the three-game series on Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
