ST. CHARLES, Mo. -

Wichita State survived a late run by Illinois State, beating the Redbirds 66 to 50.  The win puts the Shockers in the Missouri Valley Conference championship matchup against Drake on Sunday afternoon.

Alex Harden, the league's defensive player of the year for the second-straight season, led the charge on offense with 15 points for the Shockers.  Michelle Price and Michaela Dapprich also finished in double-digits with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Wichita State forced 14 Redbirds' turnovers and scored 17 points off of those turnovers.  The Shockers also scored 44 points in the paint which is twice the total for Illinois State in that category.

Wichita State's game against Drake will be played at 2:05 pm on Sunday on MVC-TV.  Locally that is Fox Sports Midwest.  The Shockers are looking for their second-straight MVC tournament title which will give them an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
