LAWRENCE, Kan. -

Kansas quarterback Jake Heaps lost his starting spot to Montell Cozart this spring so it would make sense if he wanted to transfer.  Despite reports from Utah media as well as ESPN, head coach Charlie Weis has only said that the Jayhawks had a team meeting on Tuesday and Heaps was present.

Weis relayed that message through his sports information director, Katy Lonergan, via phone call to Jenn Bates.

Heaps was the starter in 2013 for Kansas and threw 8 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and was sacked 23 times.  Kansas won just 3 games last season.

Heaps originally transferred from BYU and sat out a year behind Dayne Crist.  He has one final year of eligibility remaining.
