TOPEKA, Kansas -

The Division II regional basketball ranking were released on Wednesday with the Fort Hays State men checking in at number six and the women at 10. This meant both teams were going to need strong finishes to ensure a spot in the DII basketball tournament. A pair of loses on the road at Washburn certainly doesn’t help the cause.

The Lady Tigers dropped a third straight game with the 74-65 loss to the Ichabods. Newton native Kate Lehman did have her fourth consecutive double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. She also had three blocks. Jill Faxon added 15 points off the bench.

FHSU falls to 16-7 on the season and is in sixth place in the MIAA with three games to go.

The Tiger men lost 79-70 to the Ichabods. Wichita native Craig Nicholson lead FHSU in scoring with 16 points. Tom Gabric and James Flemming each had 14.

Fort Hays falls to 20-5 on the season, fourth in the MIAA standings.

Both teams return home Saturday for a double header against Nebraska-Kearney. Those games tipoff at 2pm.
