The Forts Hays State men’s basketball season came to an abrupt end on Saturday with an 80-69 loss to Missouri Southern in the NCAA Division II tournament opening round.

The Tigers who had beaten the Lions in the only meeting during the regular season, had no answer for Mo Southern’s red hot shooting. The Lions shot a blistering 52% from the field this time around.

Dwayne Brunson led the way for Fort Hays State in his final game as a Tiger. The senior poured in 21 points. Sophomore Craig Nicholson just missed a double-double with 15 points and 9 rebounds.

Marquis Addison was the leading scorer for the Lions with 26.

Fort Hays State finishes the year at 22-8.
