He said he felt good before the game, and it carried over on his first shot of the game.
Tekele Cotton is the Shocker defensive stopper, but Saturday afternoon he was the deep threat as well.
The junior guard was 4-4 behind the arc, and finished with a career-high 18 points in the 85-71 win against Tennessee State.
"When you have confidence in yourself, it makes everything better," Cotton said.
Cotton accounted for six of the Shockers first seven points when he sank two early three-pointers.
The 18 points bettered his career high of 14 scored last season against Creighton.
"I just try to bring energy, and do whatever Coach Marshall wants me to do., Just talk to my teammates whenever I can, and just give 100%."
