Hundreds of adults and children hit the pavement running in the 20th Annual Easter Sun Run.

This annual race is one of the premier competitive 10K races in the Midwest.

The 10K race began bright and early at 8:30 AM, followed by the 2-mile run at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, April 19 inside the Sedgwick County Park.

This year’s reward included $3,000 in prize money for the champions and baskets full of awards and prizes for winners in all age groups.

For those not in the competitive spirit, the event also included a 2-mile walk designed to allow people of all fitness levels to participate.

Following the race, runners got to enjoy live music and a barbeque meal.

All proceeds raised from this event will go to further Youth Horizons’ efforts to break the cycle of fatherlessness through youth programs. Youth Horizons has invested in the lives of at-risk children for over 20 years through a mentoring program, residential program, and public presentations.
