The event ‘Parade of Lights’ will take place on Thursday, December 5 at 6:30 PM in downtown Newton. And don’t worry about the chance of snow showers from stopping this annual event. The parade will kick-off the holiday season no matter the weather conditions.
“The weather always seems to turn wintry just before the parade,” said Lions Club President Matt Seger. “Hopefully it will help put everyone in the Christmas spirit.”
The parade route is set to run down Main Street, in between Seventh Street and Fifth Street. Along with the parade, the event will include Christmas carolers in front of Prairie Harvest at 6 PM and hot chocolate that will be served on Main Street.
Following the parade, get your child’s photo taken with Santa, who will be located at Mike’s Rent-to-Own.
If you plan on going to the parade, it’s strongly encouraged that you bring along a donation, such as non-perishable food items and old eyeglasses. There will be donation boxes setup along Main Street to drop-off items.
