A woman diagnosed with dementia has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a train.
Police said Vikki Battle, 53, was walking along the tracks near Southeast Boulevard, near Harry, when the train came along. Eyewitnesses on the train say the woman made no attempt to get off of the tracks.
The train blocked the road at Mt. Vernon for several hours.
Police said the woman's death was an accident. Investigators said they believe Battle did not know where she was or what she was doing when she walked out onto tracks.
