A woman has been hospitalized after she set herself on fire in an east Wichita store parking lot.

It happened at Lowe's Home Improvement, 11959 E. Kellogg Dr., around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Wichita firefighters said the woman went into the store to purchase some items, then doused herself with lighter fluid, and started the fire.

One witness was able to get the woman to the ground in the snow, and put out the fire.

The 41-year-old woman was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. She is being treated in a burn unit. Investigators said they believe the woman was attempting to commit suicide.
