Wichitans braved the late-night cold to observe the Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration.

Dozens participated in the overnight parade and celebration near 23rd and Market.

While it was very cold at the time, those who took part tell us they were happy to be there.

The celebration marks the appearance of the Virgin Mary to a Mexican peasant named Juan Diego in 1531.

Our Lady of Guadalupe has grown into a powerful national symbol in the Mexican culture.
