Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Stolen car swap…
A 40/f reports her green and tan 1999 Chevy Tahoe was stolen from in front of her home in the 2600 block of S. Ellis. She told police she left the SUV running. She also said it had transmission problems and won’t go in reverse. That SUV was recovered in the 3300 block of S. Washington...it was still running. A 33/m says his grandmother’s car was stolen from that same address. He says she left her car running in front of the home. That vehicle has not been recovered.
A 63/f in the 10500 block of W. University says someone opened her back gate and stole her dog. She says the dog, “Flo”, had just been given to her by her boss, who is leaving town. she says the dog harness and tags were left just inside the fence.
An 80/m says someone has been writing checks on his account. He says he had lost his checkbook.
A 65/f in the 8800 block of E. Harry says someone broke into her car through a taped-up back window (the window had been broken for about a month and she was waiting for parts so it could be fixed). She says the crooks left her doors, glovebox and gas tank open - which killed her battery. The report does not mention whether anything was stolen from the vehicle.
A 50/f says someone pointed a black handgun at her, then took her purse as she fell to the ground. Another person saw the incident and chased the robber on foot. The crook then pointed the handgun at him - prompting him to stop chasing. The woman’s purse was recovered with cash missing. This all happened in the 7700 block of E. Kellogg.
An 87/f in the 2200 block of S. Minnesota says some teenagers came to her home and stole her mailbox and the pole it goes on. They took it the day before, but brought it back. Now, they’re taunting her son, which has him upset. She says this has been going on for a while and wants it to stop.
Woman attacked defending children...
A 30/f in the 200 block of S. Edwards says a man came home drunk and punched her in the face and arms as she was trying to keep him from attacking her children with a plastic baseball bat. The man was arrested on several charges. The report does not state the man’s relationship to the children.
