Updated On: Mar 19 2014 10:43:27 AM CDT
Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.
You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)
An 83/f says someone vandalized the back of their pickup with green spray paint in the 3300 block of S. Washington. Others in the neighborhood had similar graffiti.
Another report was called in a few blocks away at 8:22 am. A 35/f says someone spray painted the front driver’s doors of two vehicles in the 1100 block of E. Tulsa.
A 30/f says someone vandalized the front of a business in the 1800 block of N. Waco. Red gang graffiti was spray painted on the north side of the building.
A 56/f says someone used black spray paint to write profane language on the driveway and north and south walls of a vacant home she has for sale in the 2900 block of S. Volutsia.
Away it goes…
A 75/f says her handicapped parking placard blew out of her car while the windows were down.
Don’t Fall For It! Card scam…
A 56/m says a cell phone belonging to his employer received an automated phone call saying that his credit card had been locked and he needed to press 1 and enter his card number to unlock it. The man told police he’d seen a news story the night before about the scam and wanted to report to police that it happened to his company.
(Note: There were several cases like this on the police sheets today - no one in the reports fell for it. Many of them didn't even have Mastercards.)
A 66/m says someone traded a trail cam and two knives for a gun of his. He asked the guy to fill out the necessary paperwork for the gun transaction. He turned his back for a second and the man took off with the gun and the paperwork. He reported the situation as a stolen weapon case.
Distract & Grab…
A 37/f says two people came to a business in the 300 block of W. 13th and bought rims and tires. One of the two customers distracted the employee while the other loaded other property in their car. The theft was caught on surveillance video.
Tires n’ gas...
A 33/f says someone came to a business in the 4200 block of S. Broadway and stole tires from two vehicles, then siphoned gas from several other cars. They have surveillance video of the crime.
