Updated On: Feb 12 2014 10:06:13 AM CST
Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.
You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)
Every day with these…
A 48/m says his car was stolen while left running in the 4500 block of S. Millwood. He says the vehicle has tinted windows, a sunroof and red pinstripes.
A long drive for cigarettes…
A 39/m says someone borrowed his car to go get cigarettes, but hasn’t brought the vehicle back.
Construction site vandalized, burglarized…
A business in the 3200 block of S. K-15 says someone burglarized a building by cutting off a lock and stealing things from inside and outside a metal building. The company reports extensive damage to some construction vehicles.
A 39/m who works for Motor City Sports says a 2005 Ford Mustang convertible was stolen from the 1200 block of S. Broadway. It’s red with a black pinstripe. He says the vehicle doesn’t have a tag. Surveillance video shows a thief cutting the lock on a gate, then starting up the car and driving it to a white International flatbed tow truck, which was waiting in the alley along with another person. He says the key was lost a few weeks ago and a replacement key had been made.
A 36/m says he lost some of his handguns. He lives in the 9400 block of E. Bent Tree and says he doesn’t get a lot of company. When he does have visitors, it’s usually family. He didn’t have the serial numbers from the guns. He found out they were missing when he got out the gun cases and they were empty. He says there’s no sign of forced entry to his house. He also says he may have put the guns into another gun case, but he doesn’t remember doing that.
A 25/m says he let his son play games on his phone while they were shopping in the 8100 block of E. Kellogg. The child laid the phone down at one point, and when the man went to retrieve it, the phone was gone. He says the phone was possibly stolen by someone at the store. He has insurance on the phone, but needed a police report to file a claim.
Catholic Charities theft…
A 42/f says someone came into a storage shed belonging to Catholic Charities in the 5900 block of W. Central and stole some property.
Pillowcase (filled with jewelry?) taken…
A 53/f reports someone kicking in the door of her home in the 1000 block of S. Yale. They then took some jewelry and other property. The report also states that a pillowcase was stolen (perhaps to load property to steal?)
Pit bull attack…
A 61/f says two pit bulls got into her backyard and attacked her two dogs. The dogs suffered minor injuries. She doesn’t know who the pit bulls belong to. She called out animal control, but the dogs were gone at that point and officers were unable to locate them.
Needs a ride…
A 47/m says he was approached by a female (it does not state her age) at Towne East Mall. She told him that her father had dropped her off and she had no money for a taxi. She said she needed a ride home because she was cold. The man didn’t give her a ride home, but suggested that she go back inside to warm up. He says she then took off in the other direction and jumped into another car and left.
