Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Fight with girlfriend…
2:25 am
A 60/m in the 1600 block of S. Parkwood says his ex-girlfriend punched him, kicked him, broke a glass vase over his arm and struck him with a skillet. She then broke out the front window of his home. The woman was arrested. The man was not seriously hurt.

Dune buggy stolen…
9:36 am
A 38/m in the 4300 block of W. May says someone stole his enclosed trailer and a dune buggy from his business.

Meds stolen from car…
11:32 am
A 22/f says someone used a coat hanger or some other device to damage the door of her car in the 1600 block of E. Arnold. The crook got into the car, stole some medications and ransacked the car.

Racing bikes stolen…
11:40 am
A 32/f in the 3200 block of N. Cranberry reports someone entered the back door of her attached garage (which was left unlocked) and stole two freestyle bikes which belong to her sons.

Blind man robbed…
12:24 pm
An 18/m, who is blind, says someone stole some things from the lobby area of a hotel in the 500 block of S. Rock Road. The man is in town for a convention for the blind…

And then hanging up…
1:16 pm
A 71/m says he’s had enough. He says someone keeps calling his home...saying a few things in Spanish...then hanging up. He told police this has been going on for months and he’s ready to press charges against the caller (who has not been identified).

Dirty carpet cleaner…
5:29 pm
A 27/f says someone came to her home in the 1200 block of N. Lorraine offering to clean her carpets. She says the guy was very insistent and wanted to do the job for free. He gave her a flier - but she told him “not today” and said she’d call and make an appointment later. She became more suspicious when the man came into the house and followed her into the kitchen and asked her several questions about her husband. She called police so the incident would be documented.

Probably not the WPD…
6:44 pm
A 51/f says she got a call from a man who identified himself as being with the Wichita Police Department. He wanted to give her three boxes of food if she would make a donation. She told him that she was unable to donate because she’s on disability. The man hung up on her.

Struck with a bat…
10:56 pm
A 65/m says two men came into his home in the 1300 block of S. Laura and struck him several times in the head, arm and sides with a baseball bat. During the assault, one of the guys took his wallet. Police have not found the two. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
