Crimewatch - DO NOT USE

Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)

Nanny fraud…
10:20 am
A 42/f answered an online ad for a nanny/housekeeper. She filled out a job application (which included her name, birthdate, Social Security Number and address - and returned it. She was “hired” and the other party sent her a check. She was instructed to deposit the check and wire some of the cash back and keep the rest. Her bank told her the check was fraudulent. The report does not state whether the bank determined the check was fake before or after she deposited it.

Darn kids…
10:50 am
A 30/f says three neighborhood kids keep coming onto her property and stealing things. She says she’s confronted them and told them to stay off her property, but they still keep taking things.

Teacher attacked…
1:00 pm
A 31/f teacher at Hadley Middle School says a student, who is described as having an emotional disorder, punched and shoved her. The student then pushed another person (report does not state whether the second person was a student or another staff member) who tried to help. Both suffered minor injuries. The student was arrested on two counts of battery and destruction of property charges.

2:02 pm
A 32/f says she worked with an agency to have someone conceive children for her in exchange for money. She says she paid the money, but now has documentation that makes her believe the person never planned to exchange children for the money she was given. She is also filing a case against the individual.

2:40 pm
A 39/m reports he searched a teenager in the 800 block of S. Osage and found 10 individual bags of marijuana. The teen was arrested for possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school.
