Wichita Police Crime Sheets: Tuesday - Jan. 14

Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A 35/f says he heard leaves moving in the yard to the north of her home. She checked and found a dead cat wrapped in a sheet in the yard in the 200 block of S. Oliver.
Inappropriate online conversations…
A woman reports finding online conversations between her 13-year-old daughter and a 23-year-old family friend which were of a sexual nature. Copies of the conversations were submitted to police.
A 39/m in the 7700 block of E. Harry says someone stole titanium scrap from outside a business. He says theft of that scrap has been an ongoing and repeated problem.
A 46/f say someone stole two dogs from her home in the 2900 block of E. Menlo. She says the dogs were in a fenced-in back yard. The dogs are 5 and 1, both are black and white Cocker Spaniels. The older dog’s name is Jack, the other is Julius. No idea who took them.
A 25/f reports that two people were stealing property from a business in the 1900 block of E. 13th N. The two walked up to a register to pay for some drinks. At that point someone (unclear if it was the cashier or security) asked them to take the property out of their jackets and pockets and pay for it. They two became upset and threatened bodily harm against an employee. That employee went to get the manager and the two thieves left with some of the property without paying for it. They left behind some kitchen towels.
A 32/f says her business was vandalized. Someone turned on a water spigot in the yard causing water leakage and a high water bill.
A 77/m says someone called him claiming he was one of his grandsons. The caller stated he was in an accident in Kansas City while driving a rental car. The man told the caller he knew where his grandson was and that he is not old enough to rent a car. He asked the caller to provide the grandson’s name...the caller hung up.
Keep the change…
A 25/f says a man came into a business in the 1900 block of E. 13th N and asked for change. She says she only gives change for customers...and that she would be more than happy to give him change if he bought something. The man became upset and left. As he was leaving, an employee overheard him say this is why he was going to come back and rob the place.
A 35/m says, earlier this week, a woman drove off from his gas station in the 2100 block of S. Broadway with the gas nozzle still attached to her vehicle. She stopped and the business told her they would give her a couple of days to pay for the damage. When he talked to her today, she said she was not going to pay for the damage.
Slot machine theft…
A 29/m reports someone tampering with a video slot machine owned by a business in the 200 block of S. Hillside. He believes the man was trying to steal money from the machine and locked him inside the store as he called police. The man then broke through the front glass door and left the business on foot. No word on whether he got any money out of the slot machine.
A 57/f says she was cut on the hand trying to take a tomahawk away from her son (whose age is not listed). She says the two had been fighting, but she didn’t feel he intentionally hurt her. The weapon was taken in as evidence.
