Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Get in the car…
A 13/m reports two people being approached by someone who tried to get them into his car. The address isn’t listed.
A 45/m reports that an inmate at the Work Force Facility in the 400 block of S. Emporia left his bicycle in the bike rack unlocked. It was stolen.
Need a new cleaning lady…
A 53/m in the 7300 block of W. Reflection says some of his property was stolen by his cleaning lady. The property was recovered from an area pawn shop. The value of the stolen property is listed at more than $1,000.
Someone (presumably a hospital worker, though the location and identity of the person who reported are not listed) reports a mother testing positive for meth after giving birth to a baby. The infant was taken into police protective custody.
Want my money back…
A 79/f says she attended a presentation put on by a travel club. She says they (presumably she and her husband) bought into the club, but after returning home they decided they didn’t want to do it anymore. They tried to contact the company and the person who put on the presentation to cancel their contract, but they were unable to get a hold of anyone. She sent a registered letter to the company, but still hasn’t heard back from them. She is concerned that the whole thing was fraudulent.
Tags n’ bolts…
A 29/f says someone stole the license plate off of her car in the 700 block of S. Vassar. She says the person also took the bolts used to attach the plate to the car.
Menu & bell stolen…
A 56/f says a customer told her the menu sign and bell were gone from her restaurant in the 2000 block of E. Central. She isn’t sure who took them.
A 40/f who works for a business in the 300 block of E. 13th N. says someone came in and stole an armful of laundry detergent, then took off on foot.
A 19/f says a man claimed he was going to bring in a bomb and blow up the center in the 7500 block of W. Village. Police checked it out and found no bombs or suspicious devices.
A 44/f says someone broke her rear window with a golf ball in the 800 block of S. Vine.
Stealing identities from the homeless...
An officer reports stopping a car at W. Pueblo and Dugan. Two people were in the car, both admitted (under Miranda) that they had marijuana. One of them also admitted to stealing information from homeless people and using that information to purchase property. Both were arrested on several charges.
