Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)

School fight…
8:00 am
A 45/m reports four students got into a fight at a school in the 700 block of W. 33rd S (South High). They were separated, given court dates, suspended and released to their parents. None of them were hurt.

“Axe” to the face…
8:35 am
A 45/f who works for a school in the 1200 block of E. Galena (Greiffenstein Alternative Elementary) reports a student sprayed her in the face with a can of cologne in an angry manner. The woman was not hurt. The student was booked into juvie on one charge of battery of a school employee.

Church vandals…
8:38 am
A 69/m called to report vandalism to a church in the 6000 block of E. Harry. The West Side Church classroom glass window was broken out with rocks. He says this is the fourth or fifth incident at that same church.

One man’s trash…
9:17 am
A 65/f says someone stole scrap metal out of a dumpster belonging to a business in the 3700 block of W. 29th S.

Irate customer…
9:24 am
A 23/f who works for a business in the 2000 block of E. 21st N. says a customer came into the store to get a refund on an electronic item. The employee told her that they don’t give refunds. She also told the customer they would not exchange it. At that point, the customer picked up and threw a phone charger at the employee, striking her in the hand (which she had raised to block the projectile). The customer left the store without paying for some of the other property she took.

“What just happened?”
11:33 am
A 56/m says his keys were taken from the counter of the business where he works in the 1200 block of E. 1st N. He says he heard a car start up outside. He went out and his car was gone.

Lost and phoned…
12:51 pm
A 62/m says he was using a cell phone belonging to his brother, who is hospitalized. He accidentally left the phone on a city bus. He called the phone and someone answered. The guy who answered admitted that he found the phone on the bus and offered to return it. They set up arrangements to drop off the phone, but the man has not shown up.

1:35 pm
A 19/f says five men tried to rob several people in the 3300 block of N. Fairview. One of them pointed a gun at someone and demanded money. That person ran into the house and locked the door. One of the guys kicked the door in and came inside. Three people were inside at the time. All five of them left. One of them hit another person’s car with a sledgehammer and shot out the back window. No one was hurt. The report does not state what, if anything, was taken. It does say they did not know the five intruders.

Mail thief…
1:41 pm
A 27/f reports seeing people illegally leaving several bags of trash and a coffee table at the Watson Park Apartments dumpsters in the 3000 block of S. Old Lawrence. Mail belonging to three people was found inside the bags.

2:43 pm
A 23/f says she was walking with her son near E. Gilbert and Eastwood. She says someone who was parked on the side of the street rolled down his window and asked her how old her son was and if he could have a sucker. She declined and proceeded on her way. She thought it was odd behavior since the man was wearing a sheriff’s vest and “official looking” law enforcement clothing. The man drove off without incident.

Gun found…
6:43 pm
A 63/f says she found a Bryson Jennings .380 semi automatic pistol behind a business in the 200 block of N. Rock. The firearm was submitted as evidence.
