Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

It was cold...figured we'd have at least one of these...
8:01 am
A 63/f says someone stole her car after it was left running in the 2400 block of S. Mead. It has not yet been recovered.

Punctured pond…
8:52 am
A 50/m says he found the gate around a pond area in the 1000 block of N. Main forced open. He says the pond pump and liner were damaged.

Pot at school…
9:30 am
A 37/m reports a student being in possession of marijuana while at school in the 5300 block of N. Hillside (Heights High).

Similar situation reported at 900 S. Edgemoor (Southeast High) a 10:30 am. That student was given a notice to appear in court.

Tire sliced…
9:39 am
A 52/f says someone vandalized her Ford Escape by placing a razor blade in the driver’s side rear tire. The tire needed to be replaced. She has no idea who would have done it.

Burglarized…
10:28 am
A 72/f says someone pried open the front door to her home in the 1100 block of N. Sandplum - while she was home. She says the person took some things and pushed her out of the way as he was leaving. He then jumped into the passenger seat of a car that took off. She was not seriously hurt.

From her shopping cart…
10:49 am
A 40/f says someone stole something out of her purse while it was in her shopping cart in the 500 block of E. Pawnee. No witnesses, no evidence.

Student threatened, school worker attacked…
11:00 am
A 14/f says a student attacked her and threatened to slit her throat. That student then battered a school employee as he was being escorted from class. This happened at Robinson Middle School. No injuries. The student was arrested.

Missing…
11:20 am
A 49/m says his wife called him from a store in the 11400 block of E. Kellogg the night before and asked what he wanted for dinner. He says she never returned home and he has not been able to get ahold of her.

Antique guns stolen…
1:30 pm
A 35/m says someone came into his home by forcing their way in through an unlocked rear window. The intruder then stole his property (including several antique guns), then left through the back door. Footprints in the backyard lead to someone’s home, but it isn’t clear if that person is suspected in the case.

Almost got away with it…
2:23 pm
A 32/m reports a person shoplifting from a store in the 7700 block of E. Central. The person was paying a lower price for items by using a different UPC Code. The thief was caught and arrested. The property was returned.

Loading groceries…
3:51 pm
A 78/f reports someone stealing her property from her shopping cart as she was loading groceries into her car. This happened at 21st and Amidon. The property is not listed, but we assume it is either a purse, wallet or phone.

Revenge trim?
5:29 pm
A 72/f says her neighbor came into her yard and trimmed her tree without her permission. She says this happened after SHE trimmed HIS tree without his permission because it was hanging over into her yard. She says the tree is still alive.

BB gun shooting…
7:49 pm
A 35/f says her son was shot in the lower back with a BB gun by three people. The BB gun and photos of the injury were submitted to police.

Kicked in…
8:05 pm
A 38/m reports coming home in the 3000 block of S. Custer and finding his front door kicked open. Someone got inside and stole some of his property. Police were able to lift a shoeprint off the door as evidence.

MMMmmm Donuts…
8:14 pm
A 23/m says someone keeps driving erratically and doing donuts in a business parking lot in the 4700 block of S. Santa Fe. He’s worried the driver is going to damage other cars in the lot.
