Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.
You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)
A 21/m says someone stole his bike from the 500 block of S. Glenn. He says the bike was locked up in an enclosed area at the time.
Strangers with milk jug…
A 54/m says someone rang his doorbell in the 2000 block of S. Beech. The man had a milk jug and said that he ran out of gas. The visitor then started asking about repairing the man’s front porch railing and was going to offer him a quote to do the work. He told the visitor that he had it covered and he did not need a quote. The man left southbound on Beech on foot, then turned down another street. He thought it was suspicious because he didn’t visit any other homes in the area and he’s concerned the visitor was casing his home.
Cutting the grass…
A 41/f says she found a long wooden-handled kitchen knife stuck in her front yard in the 1900 block of S. Waco. She has no idea where it came from. She submitted it to police.
A 19/m say someone used red spray paint to write graffiti on his wooden fence and the north side of his home in the 1800 block of N. Payne. The paint was also on his car.
A medical worker in the 2600 block of N. Woodlawn reports a patient grabbing her around the waist in a sexual manner while making inappropriate comments. The woman didn’t wish to press charges, but security wanted to make a police report because, apparently, this isn’t the first time they’ve had issues with this patient.
Out on a limb...
A 51/m says someone stole a cell phone from his home in the 2200 block of S. Dellrose. He says someone came to his house and asked his wife if they wanted their trees trimmed. She said no, but the visitor lowered the price. She asked her husband, who was in the shower at the time, but the answer was still no. The visitor then left, but her cell phone is now missing and they believe the tree trimmer took it while she was asking her husband about the service.
A 67/f reports someone forging checks that were stolen from her deceased mother. The checks were actually stolen in Haysville.
A 60/f, who is the congregation council president at a church in the 900 block of N. Waco, says a daycare teacher at her facility was given a pair of “dirty, soiled” boy’s underwear. A child found them in the playground cabin. She says the undies didn’t come from a daycare child because they’d just come outside for a break. The underwear was submitted to police as “biohazard” property.
...and they had pot and bench warrants…
A 29/m reports two people shoplifting from a store in the 4700 block of S. Broadway. The property was recovered and retained by the store. The two were in possession of marijuana and both had city bench warrants. So, they were arrested on several charges.
A 25/m reports someone throwing a golf ball at his window, causing damage. A woman at the scene says she saw a white four-door vehicle driving away, but was not sure if they were the culprits. The golf ball was found in the yard near the window.
12:15 am (Tuesday)
A 29/f reports seeing a guy peeping into her bedroom window (the address is not listed due to the nature of the incident). She says she saw the same guy the night before.
That’s a big bike…
A 29/f in the 100 block of N. Mosley says someone stole a 7-person circular bike (which apparently belongs to a business). She says it would have taken more than one person to steal it. (What's a 7-person circular bike? Click Here.)
