Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Shed burglarized…
1:23 am
A 53/m says someone kicked in the front door of his storage shed and stole some of his property in the 1700 block of S. Vine. He says a security light was pulled down and the bulb broken.

Trailer stolen…
7:36 am
A 54/m says someone stole his black 8x5’ metal frame flip-down ramp flat bed trailer. It was loaded with four sandbags on top of an old greenish-gray army tarp which was covering a single piece of plywood. He says the trailer was locked up. He also says there was snow on the ground Thursday morning and he could see footprints left behind by the thieves.

The Fresh Prints…
7:41 am
A 47/f called police after her husband told her there were footprints in the snow in her cul-de-sac in the 7400 block of E. Oxford. The prints led through yards and driveways and up to vehicles (it appears someone was looking through vehicles). There was nothing taken from her vehicle.

Spray-painted slide…
9:27 am
A 37/m says someone spray-painted gang graffiti on the slide at Dodge Literacy Magnet Elementary in the 4800 block of W. 2nd N. The school district cleaned up the mess.

More footprints…
9:33 am
A 60/f says someone illegally dumped things on the property of a business in the 3000 block of S. George Washington. An employee noticed footprints in the snow that indicated that the items had been moved from a business storage unit next door.

Pot at school…
9:59 am
A 44/f who works at a school in the 3500 block of E. Ross (Jardine Middle Magnet) reports two students were in possession of marijuana while at school. The two were served notices to appear in court and released to their parents.

Knives at school…
11:40 am
A 46/m who works for a school in the 1500 block of N. Payne (Marshall Middle School) says a student brought two knives to school. The student was arrested. The report does not state anything about threats, only that the student is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Fourth of July is months away…
11:41 am
A 61/m says someone threw a green lit firework under his car in the 2000 block of E. 53rd. There was no damage to the vehicle. Bomb techs were called to the scene as a precaution.

Pot at school…
A 45/m reports a student at a school in the 700 block of W. 33rd S. (South High School) was caught with marijuana. The student was given a notice to appear in court and released to a parent.

Another fireworks complaint…
12:20 pm
A 54/m says someone threw fireworks into his yard in the 3500 block of S. Seneca. It started a small grass fire. No one was hurt.

Altered check…
12:40 pm
A 55/f says she mailed a payment on behalf of her business to another party. Someone else intercepted the check, altered it, and cashed it.

Rude scammer…

A 24/m says his friends received a text message from someone claiming to have an “Urgent Call” for them. The call comes from a “Google” phone number, but the phone number they are instructed to call back has a different area code with the name of USCIS-United States Citizen Immigrations Services in LA. When they called, they were asked to give money - then insulted with derogatory statements, profanity and insults toward their ethnicity. The caller also threatened to take them back to Mexico (without even knowing if they are here with a legal US Visa).

Drugs embezzled…
2:20 pm
A 39/m reports someone embezzling narcotics from a pharmacy in the 5500 block of E. Harry. The woman admitted giving the drugs to her brother. She was arrested.

4:20 pm
A 26/f says she found a printed picture of faces and guns on her car in the 2500 block of E. Douglas. No idea who left it there. She submitted it to police.

No thanks…
7:29 pm
A 54/f says a man knocked on her door and told her that her ex-boyfriend had sent him over there to “get sex from her”. She told him that she was not interested and the guy left without incident.

Metal pipe…
10:47 PM
A 35/m says he was beat up with a metal pipe and robbed in the 900 block of S. Mission. He says he doesn’t know who the three assailants are. He suffered minor injuries to his face, his car was also damaged during the incident.
