1:15 pm
A 53/f says a person called her claiming to be from Westar and advising her that her account was behind. She says the caller scared her by telling her she needs to unplug everything in the house because she was at risk for an electrical fire. The caller then advised her to get a money order and give it to a “Westar” representative when he came to replace the electrical box. The caller said that would leave her in good standing and she would get a check for more than the amount she paid to use as she pleased. The woman didn’t get the money order...she called Westar and was told it was a scam. She then reported it to police.
