Wichita Police Crime Sheets: Thurs. March 27
Updated On: Mar 27 2014 08:39:40 AM CDT
Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.
You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)
A 39/m says someone forced their way into his home in the 5100 block of S. Hydraulic by forcing a rear door open. The burglar(s) then took items belonging to him and his wife. He says his shed was also entered, but the report does not state whether anything was taken. Police searched the neighborhood but did not find anyone. Two people (presumably neighbors) reported hearing noises, but didn’t see anyone.
A 31/m says he’s seen someone squatting on his property in the 1000 block of N. Hillside. He says he’s seen beer cans, toilet paper and other property that would indicate the person is living in the woods.
Liquor store heist…
A 42/m says two guys forced open the front door of his business in the 300 block of W. 21st and stole a large amount of booze. Surveillance video shows the men with their faces covered wearing gloves.
A 27/m reports a 12’x17’ flatbed trailer was stolen from a business in the 100 block of N. Waco. The trailer has “Hesston Machine & Welding” stickers on both sides and was loaded with equipment. That equipment is valued at more than $1,000. The trailer does not have a tag on it. The man says whoever took it cut a chain link fence on a temporary outdoor enclosure to get to it.
(Note: This report is very vague, but it has some important points worth publishing here)
A 74/m says he withdrew cash from his bank account to “prove” to two people that American banks would allow such large withdrawals. The two people then left with the cash he withdrew - saying in order to trust them, they were going to leave for a few minutes and would be back. They did not return.
Who let the dogs out…
A 65/f reports her neighbor’s dogs are running loose on her property in the 1700 block of S. Lark.
A 19/f reports her boyfriend threatening to kill her while holding a Samurai sword pointed at her. She was not hurt, but the man did cut another person on the face with a pocket knife and punched a third person (his daughter) in the face. No one required medical attention. The boyfriend was arrested and booked on Aggravated Assault charges.
A 33/f says someone came to where she was in the 2000 block of E. Wassall (it does not state if this was her home or out in public), held a gun to her head and demanded that she give him $200 in cash. She was holding her baby at the time. The report does not say whether she gave him the money or how the situation ended, but it seems no one was hurt.
