Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

An officer reports being pushed in the chest because a woman didn’t want to go to the hospital. The woman was in custody and refused to get into the WPD BAT Van (BAT=Breath Alcohol Testing). Another officer was kicked while putting her in leg shackles. Neither officer was seriously hurt. The woman faces several charges.
A 73/m reports finding a black and green 20-inch boy’s Mongoose bicycle in his backyard in the 6100 block of E. Lincoln. He doesn’t know who put it there. The bike had not been reported as stolen. It was submitted as found property.
A 77/m reports someone stealing a company trailer with his Bobcat on it from the 1600 block of S. Sabin. He’s checking through security footage to see if he can spot the suspect(s).
A 37/f says someone stole gas from a car in the 2600 block of S. Rock. The thieves got to the gas by cutting the gas line.
A 19/f says someone stole her 1 ½ old female German Shepherd from an outside kennel in the 4400 block of W. 8th Street. She says the dog was put in the kennel at around 1 am. When she returned at 10, the fence gate and the kennel were open and the dog was gone. The dog was wearing a collar, but no tags. The dog was not microchipped.
A 56/m says he applied to be a secret shopper online and was sent a check for $2,370. He was told to purchase four $500 Green Dot cards, then contact them with the 14-digit numbers on the backs of the cards. He discovered the check was fraudulent and didn’t cash it. He submitted it to police as evidence.
Trash cart stolen…
A 57/f says someone stole her trash cart from behind her house in the 800 block of N. Perry. She says she took the cart out Monday evening. When she went to move it back on Tuesday, it was gone.
More dogs stolen…
A 53/f says someone took her two dogs from her backyard in the 1400 block of N. Bluff. The gate was found left open. She does not think the dogs would have left on their own.
Gas leak scam…
A 49/f reports someone coming to her apartment and telling her that there was a report of a gas leak. The man walked into her apartment and went straight to her water heater, then started walking down her hallway when she told him to stop and leave. He left without incident. She called the gas company and was told there was not report of a gas leak at her home.
