Wichita Police Crime Sheets: Thu. April 10

Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Motorcycle dragged away…
A 26/m says he woke up and found that his motorcycle was stolen. He says the motorcycle was right outside his front door in the 2700 block of E. Wilma. He told police that the motorcycle was “obviously” dragged man says the across the parking lot to be loaded and taken away. The front forks were locked and he still has the key. The bike will have a broken front fairing (the shell that goes around the frame) because parts of it were found on the ground. He says the right rear blinker is covered with duct tape and the taillight doesn’t always work.
A 45/f says someone cut a chainlink fence on top of her business in the 200 block of N. Mead. She says it seems like they were trying to access large AC units on top of the building. She didn’t know if those units were damaged. She also says a neighboring business has large trucks parked near the building. She thinks the crooks may have climbed the trucks to gain access to the roof.
Pot at school…
A 46/m who works for a school in the 700 block of W. 33rd S. (South High) says he found marijuana in a student’s purse. The student was arrested, then released to her mother at the school.
A 19/f says she and someone else were driving in the 1500 block of S. Seneca when someone she didn’t know pulled up in another car and pointed a silver handgun at them during a road rage incident. Police did not find the other car.
Police were called to a home after EMS responded to a “child not breathing” call. Two children were in the home, including a 5-year-old boy. Due to the conditions in the home and weapons being left unsecured, one child was taken into protective custody. The other child (who prompted the EMS response) was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Once released from the hospital, he will be placed into protective custody. The address is not listed due to the nature of the case.
Gun at the airport…
A 32/f reports observing a handgun on an x-ray machine at Mid-Continent Airport. The owner of the gun was arrested and the handgun was submitted as evidence. No other details are listed.
A woman reported observing an unknown man urinating outside daily in the 1500 block of S. Pattie. She didn’t have a description of the man, but the caller knows where he lives.
You wanna buy a TV?
An 89/m says he was putting groceries in his car at Central and West when he was approached by two people who asked him if he wanted to buy a large flatscreen TV for $500. He said no. They then offered the same TV for $200 or best offer. He said he still was not interested. The two left in a black van, which was “completely full” of flatscreen TVs still in their boxes. He tried to get the tag number, but there was no record of the number he took down.
A 47/m reports seeing his neighbor shooting a squirrel in the 1100 block of N. Sandplum. He did not know what kind of weapon was used.
Several tenants at an apartment complex in the 10100 block of E. Boston report seeing an unknown man trying to enter several apartments using a screwdriver. He was not on scene when police arrived.
Tube in the tank…
A 25/f reports someone sticking a hose in her vehicle’s gas tank in the 2000 block of S. Mosley. she says she isn’t sure if any gas was taken. She also says they’ve had some mail stolen and she’s concerned about crime in her neighborhood.
BB Gun at school…
A 31/m, who works for a school, reports a youngster (whose age is not listed) was playing on the playground in the 3300 block of W. 33rd St. South (Cleveland Traditional Magnet). He was not there when police showed up, but the student did admit to owning a BB Gun. The principal at the school is looking into banning him from the school.
Extremely unwanted phone calls…
A 62/f reports she and (presumably) her husband receiving two phone calls in the past three weeks from the same man. He tells her he is required to contact them by another agency (not listed) because he committed a crime. She says he then goes into describing, in great detail, sexual acts with animals. The two are concerned because they have children in their care.
Shady package deal…
A 65/m says someone contacted him online and asked to have some packages delivered to his house. That person said he would pay him once the packages were picked up. The packages arrived and were picked up. He is concerned that there is some sort of illegal deal taking place.
