Wichita Police Crime Sheets: Monday, March 17

Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Theft from car…
Some vehicles were broken into in a parking lot in the 3800 block of W. 13th N. Five cars were damaged and had things taken from them. The thief and the stolen property were found in a nearby apartment. The property was returned to the owners.
Pipe stolen...TVs left...
A 52/m say pipes were stolen from a trailer in the 4000 block of S. Hydraulic. The pipe was chained to the trailer and he let the air out of the tires of the trailer to keep it from being stolen. He says whoever stole the pipe also dumped several televisions. He also said it would have taken several people to remove all of the pipe.
I know where it is…
A 54/f says someone stole her phone from a hotel restaurant in the 2900 block of N. Webb Road. She says she was charging the phone when it was stolen. She is able to track her phone and says it was unplugged from the charger at 10:33 pm and moved at 10:44. She even had the exact address where the phone was at the time she made the call to police.
A 45/f says two people donated several boxes to a charity in the 1600 block of S. Rock. While going through the boxes, she found ammunition, fireworks and a small baggie containing a “green botanical substance”. She did not know who donated the boxes. The property was turned over to police.
Half of a tag?!
A 56/f says someone stole half of the tag off of her tan 2003 Ford F150 pickup in the 1500 block of N. Dellrose.
A 29/f says her neighbor who lives behind her brought buckets and pliers to turn on her water faucet outside, then took her water without her knowledge or permission. She says her water bill was twice as high as last month. She did tell him to stop.
A 24/f says her children’s aunt was following her and honking at her vehicle as she was taking her kids to daycare. She has no idea why, but she has done it before.
An 86/f says a female acquaintance knocked on her door in the 1500 block of W. Pawnee. She answered the door and the woman started begging for money (which she has done in the past). She refused to give her any money, but at that point, the woman pushed her and her walker back and came inside. She then grabbed cash from her back pocket and took off. She does not know the woman’s name. She was not hurt.
A 64/m called police to let them know someone was in his car in the middle of the street for at least a half-hour. Police checked into it, turns out the guy had meth and was planning to sell it. He was arrested on drug charges, weapons charges, impeding traffic flow and other charges.
A 23/f says she was attending a wedding in the 7300 block of E. Kellogg. She set her phone down on a table while she went to the ladies room. When she came back, the phone was gone.
A 21/f says she found her underwear drawer laying on the floor in her bedroom in the 100 block of N. Charles.
A 56/f says someone drove a car through her yard in the 600 block of N. Elder. The driver went over a cedar tree and through a chain link fence causing damage. She says her home is next to a patrol station and she thinks their surveillance video may have seen the driver enter her property.
Can’t be a good sign…
A 45/m reports finding blood and handprints in the blood around his home in the 1300 block of N. Market. Police aren’t sure where the blood came from.
A 30/f says she found a grenade belonging to her live-in boyfriend while cleaning her apartment in the 2600 block of S. Topeka. The boyfriend was not there because he’s in jail. The Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team was called in to deal with it.
Car thief attacks…
A 41/m says he saw someone trying to steal their car from the 900 block of N. Porter. He intervened and the thief threw a screwdriver at his face causing a minor injury. The guy then threatened him with a knife and threw a piece of concrete through the front window of his home. Police have not found him.
Phony phone purchase…
A 15/m says he sold his iPhone to someone, but received seven fake $20 bills as payment. Police could not locate the buyer.
A 21/f says she saw someone she didn’t know shoot the windshield and driver’s side window on her car with a BB gun. It happened in the 700 block of N. Doreen. The windshield was damaged, the other window was shattered. She asked for police to provide more patrols in her area.
Where’s the fire?
A 30/f says some people, possibly juveniles, took a fire extinguisher and discharged it in the hallway of her apartment building in the 3600 block of W. 13th. She says the contents of the extinguisher got inside her apartment and damaged some of her furniture.
A 23/m says a man and woman he didn’t know approached him while parked at Douglas and Washington. They demanded that he take them to Hutchinson. He refused and they stole his car at knifepoint. An eyewitness identified two possible suspects.
