Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Friday
Not so tough now...
12:48 am
A 50/m who drives a cab says he picked up two people and took them to a home in the 1200 block of N. Emerson. The two then refused to pay and said they had weapons. They then told the cabbie that if “we have to come back outside, we’ll bring ‘something else out’ with us.” They ended up paying for the cab ride after police contacted them.

Firestarter…
7:30 am
A 28/m says someone poured lighter fluid on wood that was in the back of his vehicle in the 400 block of N. Gordon. The fire went out on its own and only the wood was burned. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Brazen boat theft…
8:05 am
A 54/m says someone came into his driveway in the 3000 block of S. Custer and hooked onto his boat trailer, then drove off. A witness saw a white Ford pickup driving away with the boat.

Keep the change…
8:08 am
A 26/f says she woke up and found that someone had broken the driver’s side window of her car and stole the change from a cup holder. The car was parked in front of her home in the 2200 block of S. Hiram at the time.

Gun stolen…
10:15 am
A 28/m says someone stole a black box with a handgun in it from his car at Lincoln and Emporia. He says he gave someone a ride. He thinks that person took it.

Check intercepted…
12:10 pm
A 60/m says he was contacted by someone who claimed they mailed a check to him last month. He had not received the check and found out through his bank that the check was apparently already cashed by someone else.

Student arrested…
12:32 pm
A school employee was struck on the side of the head by a student during a verbal confrontation with another student. The student was arrested. This happened in the 2300 block of E. Douglas (East High).

Child abuse…
10:36 pm
Six children were taken into police protective custody after a man reported his wife was abusing them. Two of them had minor visible injuries.

Saturday:
Getting the help she needs…
1:24 am
A 79/f called police and said that she is 247 years old, meth shoots out of her floorboards and she has a talking cat that gets high on meth. She asked officers to stay at her apartment so they could witness these things happening.

Wallet lost…
12:17 pm
A 37/f says she found a wallet belonging to someone in the street in the 1700 block of S. Lark. She wasn’t able to contact the owner, so she submitted the wallet to police.

10 seconds is all it takes…
1:26 pm
A 33/f says she parked just outside of a store in the 5500 block of E. Harry so she could run into the store and drop off a carpet cleaner attachment. When she came back out ten seconds later, her property (presumably her purse) was stolen from her unlocked car. The car was not damaged.

Drive-by…
9:53 pm
Someone called police to report that someone shot out windows in the 3600 block of N. Rock Road. No one was hurt. No one saw it happen.

Pizza….
11:36 pm
A 48/m says two people tried to steal pizza from him in the 4800 block of S. Laura. One of them had a knife. No one was hurt. Police arrested the two.

Sunday:
P & X...
6:44 am
A 27/m says he caught someone urinating in the cooler of a business in the 1600 block of E. Lincoln. The employee told the man to leave, but he refused. The guy was confronted by police and he resisted arrest. Once police got him into custody, they found ecstasy on his person. He was arrested on several charges.

Nails…
1:47 pm
A 27/m reports someone throwing a box of nails into a driveway in the 2100 block of S. Stoneybrook with the possible intent of causing damage. The nails were found before he left the garage, so there was no damage.

BB Gun damage…
There were several cases of car windows shot out with BB or pellet guns. This happened around the area of 2500 E. Skinner.
