Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)

Left behind…
Friday - 6:09 am
A 31/m says someone got into his car in the 1600 block of N. Rutgers, then used the garage door opener to open his garage. Apparently, something spooked him - because he left the scene on foot without taking anything. He left behind a vehicle which was filled will several stolen items (reportedly from another case in the 1600 block of N. Prescott). That car was impounded. Police are still looking for the guy.

Not your package…
Friday - 12:16 pm
A 24/m in the 9000 block of W. Westlawn says someone dropped off a package for him at his neighbor’s house. The neighbor signed for it - then opened the package without his permission. Nothing was missing.

Not your check…
Friday - 2:55 pm
A 70/m in the 2100 block of S. Cooper says someone stole his outgoing mail and tried to cash a check that was in one of the envelopes.

Crawling thief…
Friday - 3:04 pm
A 29/m says someone crawled under a fence at an auction business in the 4500 block of S. Madison. That person then stole computer control modules out of ten salvage vehicles in the lot. The loss is listed at greater than $1000.

Stolen drugs…
Friday - 3:07 pm
A 60/m says someone stole prescription narcotics from his mailbox in the 2200 block of S. Pinecrest. The man talked with the mail carrier and a supervisor to track the package and verified that it was delivered to his address. No word on who took it.

Where’s my change…
Friday - 3:33 pm
A 45/m says he used the self-checkout at a business in the 6200 block of E. 13th, but left his change at the register. He came back into the store and asked a cashier and a customer if they’d seen the cash. Both said “no”, so he asked if he could watch the video surveillance to see who took his money. The store told him he needed to fill out a police report in order to view it.

Stop yelling at me…
Friday - 5:30 pm
A 27/m in the 3600 block of W. 44th S. says his neighbors directly across from him were screaming and cussing at him and his wife. He says they were calling them vulgar names and threatening bodily harm. He says it was all over four 6’ privacy fence panels on his side of the property that he replaced after the neighbors removed them. He says he’s had issues with these neighbors before, but is now in fear of his family’s safety.

Cars damaged…
Saturday - 11:33 am
A 66/m says someone cut the fence and a padlock to a business in the 3500 block of W. Pawnee. At least 12 cars were broken into and ransacked. He wasn’t sure what was taken from each of the vehicles. The thieves also took copper telephone cable.
