Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Busting out…
8:48 am
A 36/m reports someone coming into the locked back fenced-in area of a business in the 8500 block of E. 32nd N. That person then took an unlocked car belonging to someone else (which was there for repairs) and rammed it through the locked gate several times, then drove away with it.

Gas siphon…
9:39 am
A 30/m reports someone siphoning gas from a car while in the open lot of a business in the 100 block of S. West Street.

Cat Burglar…
9:41 am
An 18/f says she was scammed out of money while purchasing a cat. The report does not say exactly how.

10:45 am
A 73/m reports someone, maybe an ex-employee, used a trailer to dump a load of tree debris onto one of his properties. He says he didn’t see the former employee do it, but he had a recent run-in that makes him believe it was him.

Hopping to conclusions...
10:48 am
A 58/m who lives in the 200 block of S. Forestview says he saw a dead or injured rabbit one of his window wells late Wednesday. Thursday morning, it was gone. He thinks someone deliberately put it there to harass him, then removed it.

Battered teacher…
1:00 pm
A 47/m was battered by a student in the 2300 block of E. Douglas (East High). The student was trying to escape from custody after getting busted for stealing. The employee suffered minor swelling of the lip. The student was arrested.

“N” word…
5:33 pm
A 36/f says a neighbor called her son the “N” word without reason. She says the neighbor has called her children names on a number of occasions without provocation and she would like to press charges because she’s tired of the verbal abuse toward her children.

Speeding neighbor…
5:44 pm
A 25/f says a neighbor peels out of his driveway and races up the street at a high rate of speed. She says many children live in the area and she’s worried one of them is going to get hit. She says this has been going on for about three weeks.

Who steals a dog?
6:12 pm
A 21/m says someone stole his dog from the backyard of his home in the 1400 block of N. Hillside. He says the dog was chained up securely, now the dog and the chain are gone.

Don’t go away mad…
6:24 pm
A 66/f says someone came to her door in the 1400 block of N. Willow selling magazines. The person acted angry and stormed off when she didn’t purchase anything.

Chased by dogs…
7:34 pm
A 26/f says her husband was chased by dogs belonging to a neighbor in the 5700 block of E. Rockwood. She says her husband was riding his bike with his dog on a leash when a golden retriever and a 40-50 lbs wire-haired terrier began chasing him and his dog. The dogs apparently got loose from someone’s yard. He fell from his bike and landed on his wrist (which had recently undergone surgery). He also had minor scrapes to his knee and shin.

Armed robbery…
8:54 pm
A 22/m says someone came into a store where he works in the 2000 block of S. Oliver. The man pointed a gun at him and demanded money from the register. He complied and the man left without further incident.

10:42 pm
A 24/m says someone wrote derogatory words on the front window and door of his home in the 6000 block of E. Lincoln.

A sticky situation...
11:59 pm
A 57/m says someone poured a sticky, rubbery, unknown type of liquid onto the driver’s side of his car. The liquid didn’t damage his car, but it took several hours to remove it. He says this isn’t the first time this has happened. He asked police to step up patrols in his area.

Random shooting…
1:20 am (Friday)
A 19/m says someone shot a single shotgun round into the rear of his car as he was turning into his apartment complex in the 6000 block of E. Harry. The side of his face and his shoulder were struck with birdshot. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. He did not have any suspect information.
