WICHITA, Kan. -

Shoppers at Michaels Stores across the country should take a close look at their bank statements.  Executives for the craft store chain say hackers targeted their stores, including two locations in Wichita.

Nationally, around 2.6 million cards were affected by the security breach that lasted eight months in 2013.

We don't know how many customers in Wichita were affected but we do know the breach could affect any customers who used a credit or debit card at the Wichita stores between May 8 and July 29, 2013.

Michaels is offering free identity protection, credit monitoring and fraud assistance to affected customers.
