WICHITA, Kan. -

An aircraft supplier has announced plans to move out of Wichita, costing 75 jobs.

NORDAM said it is consolidating its Wichita office into its headquarters in Tulsa.

Meredith Siegfried, NORDAM's chief executive officer, said the move is necessary after a recent decline in sales.

"The retrenchment in the light to medium business jet market the past three years affected our ability to sustain our Wichita cabinetry operation at a level where we could justify a stand-alone facility to support the business," she said.

The move will affect about 75 workers, and close 120,000 sq. ft. facility, 9175 E 35th St N., in the aircraft cabinet manufacturing sector.

The company intends to offer the first opportunity to Wichita workers as positions in Tulsa are filled. But a spokesperson said only about 30 to 35 jobs will be available.

NORDAM recently announced a 50,000 square-foot expansion of its aircraft Interior & Structures Division in Tulsa earlier this fall.
