WICHITA, Kan. -

It's another level of low for criminals in Wichita.

Police say someone stole an aluminum wheel chair ramp belonging to a 62-year-old disabled woman in south Wichita.

The theft happened in late November but wasn't reported until Monday. A caretaker noticed the ramp was missing outside the sliding back door.

Brenda Stoneley has Multiple Sclerosis and spends most of her time in a motorized wheelchair. She tells Eyewitness News the ramp cost her $450, which is about two-thirds of her monthly income.

Stoneley was angry at first but now says she feels sorry for the thieves who took it. Sorry their lives are in such a desperate place.

Police said depending on the type of aluminum used for the ramp it could fetch a substantial amount of money at a scrap yard.

Stoneley has purchased a replacement ramp similar to the one that was stolen.
