Second teen dies from Plymell home explosion

PLYMELL, Kan. -

A second teen has died from a Finney County house explosion.

Garden City Fire Chief Allen Shelton confirmed the death of of 14-year-old Riley Unruh.

Riley was at home with his brother Spencer, 17 and their mother, Kelly, when their home exploded in the town of Plymell, near Garden City, on June 28.

Spencer was killed in the explosion. Riley and Kelly were hospitalized.

Riley died Tuesday morning from the injuries he suffered. Kelly remains in critical condition.

Chief Shelton said the explosion was caused by a concentration of natural gas. It is being investigated as an accident.
