MEDICINE LODGE, Kan. -

Liz Edwards remains in critical condition at a Wichita hospital, days after she was hit by a pick-up truck while riding her bike near Medicine Lodge.

"I have no doubt she will bounce back, she is a fighter," said Liz's husband Brett Edwards.

Brett Edwards talked for the first time since the accident, in hopes it will prevent other bicyclists from being hurt.

Liz Edwards was riding her bike Monday night along Isabel Road east of Medicine Lodge. She was going north, and so was the pick-up driver.

He told investigators the sun got in his eyes and that he never saw liz before he hit her going 50 to 60 miles an hour.

"She rides it just about everyday, same time," Brett Edwards said. "You want people to know that you are sharing the road too, the next person may not be as fortunate as she has been so far."

Brett has been by her side at Via Christi St. Francis hospital ever since Liz was air lifted there Monday night. She's sedated, and dealing with multiple injuries.

"It is so hard to tell right now, she is still in critical condition," Brett said. "She is still here with us thank God, that is what we are super thankful for right now. We have had a lot of prayers and I spend a lot of time praying."

Brett knows Liz has a long road to recovery ahead, and he still doesn't know her long term prognosis. Still he has faith she will make it through this.

A fund has been established at The Citizens Bank of Kansas in Medicine Lodge. The fund is called "The Liz Edwards Love & Healing Fund"  The address of the bank is 120 E Kansas Ave, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
