Kansas -

Three people are dead in two separate accidents along Kansas highways this morning.

The Kansas Highway patrol says a passenger bus collided with a pickup truck in western Kansas, killing one person in the pickup and injuring several other people on the bus.

The patrol says the accident happened early Wednesday as the Greyhound bus and pickup truck were headed east on Interstate 70 in Trego County.

Patrol spokesman Tod Hileman says investigators are working to determine what caused the accident. He says the victim was in the pickup, which was also hauling a trailer. The victim's identity hasn't been released.

Hileman says eight people from the bus, including the driver, were taken to a nearby hospital. The patrol didn't have their conditions.

The second happened near Greensburg near US 54 and US 183.

It happened at the US-183 and US-54 junction in Kiowa County around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Troopers said a car traveling north on US-183 failed to yield to a semi truck on US-54. The car entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side.

The driver of the FedEx truck suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Troopers said the driver and passenger of the car were not wearing seatbelts. No names have been released.
