The Salvation Army Mission of Hope accepting Christmas applications

WICHITA, Kan. -

The Salvation Army Mission of Hope will be accepting Christmas applications for the Angel Tree and Star of Hope programs from Monday, Nov. 4, through Friday, Nov. 22.

Applications are being accepted at three Wichita Salvation Army locations:

West Orchard Corps, 1910 S. Everett (316.943.9893) and Citadel Corps, 1739 Elpyco St. (316.685.8699)
Nov. 4-8 and Nov. 11-14
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Downtown Location, 350 N. Market St. (316.263.2769)
Nov. 11-22
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mon., Tues., Wed., and Fri.
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thurs.

Applicants may only apply for one holiday program.

Each applicant must bring the following documents:
Proof of Identification: legal documentation for every child and adult living in the home (Social Security card, birth certificate, immunization card, photo ID, medical card, etc.)
Proof of income for the last 30 days for each adult in the home (DCF cash & food stamp forms, payroll check stub, etc.)
Proof of address – a bill or something mailed to the applicant within the last 30 days

For the Angel Tree program, parents are asked to bring gift ideas for their children who are 14 and younger (around $25 per child).

“Last year, we assisted 3,732 families, 16,427 individuals, and 9,666 children through this program. We estimate the need to be even greater this year,” said Glen Caddy, Major and Wichita City Commander with The Salvation Army. “If you are in need of assistance, we encourage you to apply.”

“Those who are able to donate can look for our Angel Tree and Star of Hope locations at Towne East Square, Towne West Square, and Walmart starting the Friday after Thanksgiving.”

Please return all new, unwrapped Angel Tree and Star of Hope donations to Angel Tree drop-off locations by Friday, Dec. 13.
