Two boys walking to school say they were approached by a man who asked them to get in his car Monday.

Wichita police say the two 13-year-old boys were walking to Mead Middle School in the 2600 block of E. Skinner around 7:50 a.m. Monday when they were approached by a man in a gold Buick. The boys told police that the man tried to convince them to get in his car so they would not be late to school.

Investigators say the boys did not get in the vehicle and instead walked on to school where they told school officials. Police say they do not want to sound any alarms about what happened and they are still looking into it.

The boys were not able to give police a license plate number for the car. Officers want anyone who may have seen a gold Buick in the area of Mead Middle School Monday morning to call them.
