WICHITA, Kan. -

For the first time in seven years, Wichita State is the state's consensus top-ranked men's basketball team during the regular season.

The 9-0 Shockers  jumped to No. 8 in the USA Today poll, composed of 32 coaches, and is ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press poll. Both rankings were released Monday afternoon.

The University of Kansas (6-2) is ranked 13th in both polls, while Kansas State (5-3) appears in neither poll.

It is the first time since December of 2006 the Shockers have been the state's top-ranked team in both polls before postseason play.
