Shockers fans rush to buy MVC Championship T-shirts

Less than one day after the Shockers claimed the MVC Championship title, Shockers fans were ready to snatch up all the championship apparel they could get their hands on.
Tad's Locker Room in Wichita placed its order for about 700 championship T-shirts several weeks ago and as soon as the Shockers clenched the title Sunday afternoon, Tad Snarenberger, owner of Tad's, hit the road to Kansas City to pick them up and have them ready to sell Monday morning.
"I think sales are going to be pretty brisk, they usually are after a championship," Snarenberger said. "I think fans will come in and probably buy most of them up, we'll probably end up going back tonight."
Fans filled the store as soon as it opened Monday morning at 9:30, which is actually 30 minutes earlier than normal.
"I'm out trying to find some shirts for my mother, my husband and myself," said Shocker shopper Pat McLoud. "Actually I was looking at this one, but I just started shopping so I may pick up several others."
That was the theme for most early shoppers, picking up several shirts while they were there to make sure everyone in the family had one before they sold out.
Snarenberger said he expects to sell out of this first batch pretty quickly, but they already have more shipments on the way.
"It's coming from everywhere," he said. These specific shirts that we got are coming from Kansas City but we're also getting them from Lawrence, they're shipping from Minnesota, and then there's another shipment coming from Oklahoma."
Some of the new shipments are expected to arrive Tuesday, which means more shirts for procrastinating shoppers and a wider selection of merchandise. Several other stores in Wichita, like Sports Time Fan Shop, are also selling Shockers Championship items. Both Tad's and Sports Time open at 10:00 a.m. every weekday.
