WICHITA, Kan. -

Several Kansas Department of Transportation projects will slow traffic in Wichita.

A special operation March 6 and 7 will see contractors for Westar remove overhead power lines across I-235 between Maple and Central.

The right lanes of both Northbound and Southbound  I-235 will close from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. plus when the lines are being lowered into the ground, all traffic will briefly come to a halt on I-235.

The KDOT weekly update showed work is expected from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and possibly Saturday. The installation of a drainage pipe under the entrance ramps to westbound K-96 from Greenwich Road will be closed all next week. The use of nearby 21st Street entrance ramp  is suggested as an alternative.
