A Salina man is sentenced to 37 months in federal prison on a federal firearms charge.

According to U.S. Attorney, Barry Grissom, Kalun James Purucker, 22, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Purucker admitted that the Salina Police Department stopped a car on April 9, 2012 when he was a passenger. At this time, police recovered a .380 caliber handgun and ammunition. Purucker was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a prior felony conviction.
