HUTCHINSON, Kan. -

A McPherson man appears to be on the mend after a rollover crash.

It happened just before nine o'clock Wednesday night at 43rd Street and K-61 Highway just north of Hutchinson in Reno County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said 61 year-old Jerry Leopold was northbound in a 1999 Toyota , when he looked down for a second.

When he looked up, he was behind a slower vehicle, tried to avoid the car, but lost control and rolled three times coming to rest on its top.

Leopold was flown by Life Team helicopter to Via Christi St. Francis in critical condition. He's since improved to serious.  Leopold was buckled up.
